It has been my great privilege these last few years to travel and perform aboard the RIVER EXPLORER as she plied the great Mississippi river system. There have been trips on the Ohio, the Mississippi, Cumberland and Tennessee rivers. Stops in New Orleans LA (The Big Easy), St. Louis MO ( the Gateway City), Paducah KY (a true artists temptation), Nashville TN (Music City), Louisville, KY (Derby Town), Point Pleasant WV (home to the Moth Man), Cincinnati OH (Reds Home), Savannah TN (Shiloh Battlefield) and so many many more. I've climbed up on board using the gangway, Miss Nauris' skiff and even a 16 foot extension ladder. I've exited in all of the same ways in places most folks don't know exist and at times and in weathers that would even give the devil pause. What a wonderful trip it has been.
While attemptin' to step up to the 21st. century I got me one of those new digital (that is pronounced dig-A-tial) cameras. Oh boy is it ever a fine toy! Soon I could be found a popin' little ole' photos of my family (to their consternation) and shootin' pictures of sites aroun' my home here in Paris, Tennessee. Next I started to commence ta carrin' that little grey box on the RIVER EXPLORER. I got to shootin' pictures of the many of the folks I met and sights I saw while ridin' the rivers.
One day somebody asked me, "Hay Dan, what you doin' with all those pictures you keep makin' out here?"
"Aw heck, I don't know" I said, "I guess I jus' look at 'um on my ole' computer screen, when I get the time."
After a moment of thinkin' he said "Well, why done'cha stick 'um on yer web site?"
Well sir, I figured that that was a mighty nice idea.
So... here they are. Photos of some of the folks who I have met, and some of the sites I've peered at. But mostly of you great people who have become such good friends...even family.
Now Cap'in Joe, I'd like to thank you for lettin' me use your photo to open this section. As Debbie says "Y'all looked jus' right!".
Now I'll be changin' the pictures ever' so often. Addin' new photos long as the camera keeps on a-workin' and I keep a pickin', singin' and a travelin'. So y'all feel free to look back any ole' time. And I sure hope you enjoy these pictures.
